Who we are

Albart Coster

My name is Albart Coster. It is my conviction that a good counselling is important for dairy farms, and that's why I started Dairyconsult together with Jaap. I grew up in Catalonia, Spain, and studied Animal Sciences at the Wageningen University, in the Netherlands. In my study, I concentrated on cattle feeding and selective breeding. Currently, besides my work for Dairyconsult I'm working as a PhD student at the Animal Breeding and Genomics Centre of the Wageningen University. My research is on the influence of genetic markers in breeding programmes.

Jaap van Zwieten

I grew up on my family’s farm with dairy cows and pigs in the west of the Netherlands. In this way I became interested in agriculture already at a very early age. I received a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry. After this, I worked as a commercial consultant for a feed company serving dairy farms in the eastern part of Germany. Following my return to the Netherlands, I started working independently as a trainer and consultant advising dairy farmers and giving courses to veterinarians. To develop a better understanding of scientific research, I followed a master study in animal science with the specialisation of animal nutrition at Wageningen University. During this period, I started Dairyconsult together with Albart Coster. Since then I have I become more and more enthusiastic about independent management and nutrition advice in dairy farming.
